- Boil the salt and litharge with the water for half an hour, stirring occasionally.
- Take of Iodide of Potassium and Nitrate of Lead of each an ounce ;
- Dissolve the salts separately, each in one-half of the water ; add the solutions ; collect the precipitate on a filter of linen or calico, and wash it with water.
- Boil the powder in three gallons of water acidulated with three fluidounces of pyroligneous acid.
- Let any undissolved matter subside, maintaining the temperature near the boiling point ; and pour off the clear liquor, from which the iodide of lead will crystallize on cooling.
