- Remarks. — The ointment prepared according to this formula, in which the quantity of acid used has been diminished from 16 drachms to 11|, is liable to the objection of undergoing very marked changes both of colour and consistence, even when but a short time kept : its colour changes to a slate grey, and it becomes hard, brittle, and almost pulverizable
